Last weekend (2nd) was the Young Athletes League (YAL) which took place at Wishaw. The younger members of Clydesdale Harriers were out in force. Under 13 Girls had Cira Devanney run the 75m (12.15s). Rachel Campbell ran the 75m (12.43s) and Long Jump (2.76m). Under 15 Girls had Roisin McShea run 1500m (5.23.53 pb) and throw Discus (8.25m). Caitlin Dick ran 800m (3.03.37) and 200m (37.11). Kirsty Alexander ran 100m (15.39), 1500m (6.16.69) and throw Discus (10.02m). Under 17 Girls ran 800m (2.38.10 pb), 300m (47.77) and Long Jump (3.59m). Under 13 Boys had Andrew Hunter run 100m (13.65), 200m (27.68) and Long Jump (4.07m). Lewis Hay ran 800m 3.01.57 and threw Shot Putt (3.67m). Under 15 Boys had David Campbell ran 80m Hurdles (16.38), 200m (29.2) and 400m (66.38). Under 17 Boys had Tony Dolan run 100m (15.21), 800m (2.29.72) and 1500m (5.00.02). Lewis Wood threw Hammer (10.94m), Shot Putt (7.52m) and Discus (17.64m).
The Whangie Whizz Hill Race was on the previous Wednesday. Hugh Laverty was the fastest harrier finishing in a time of 35.27, followed by Derek Halpin (36.26) and Michael Diver (37.21).
The previous weekend was the Central and Southern League at Grangemouth. Under 11 Girls had Caitlin Stuart running 80m (16.22), 800m (3.12.60) and the Long Jump (1.76m). Under 13 Girls had Rachel Campbell running 100m (17.04), 800m (3.37.98) and Long Jump (2.52). Under 15 Girls had Roisin McShea running 100m (16.67) and 800m (2.44.10). Kirsty Alexander ran 100m (15.53), 800m (3.02.62) and Long Jump (3.88m). Caitlin Dick did Long Jump (2.05m) and threw Discus (7.33m). Under 17 Girls had Claire Reid running 100m (14.59), 800m (2.43.38) and threw Javelin (9.38m). Under 11 Boys had Stephen Kane run 80m (14.3), 800m (3.12.00) and Long Jump (2.09m). Under 13 Boys had Andrew Hunter run 100m (13.77), throw Shot Putt (7.29m) and Long Jump (4.14m). Lewis Hay ran 100m (17.05) and threw Shot Putt (4.52m). Under 15 Boys had David Campbell running 100m (14.82), 400m (1.07.94) and High Jump (1.10m). Under 17 Boys had Tony Dolan running 100m (15.23), 400m (1.08.73) and 800m (2.34.80). Lewis Wood ran 100m (16.0), threw Shot Putt (7.73m) and Discus (17.4m). Senior Men had David Brown jumping in the Triple Jump (9.98m) and running in the 3000m (10.33.62). Ian Robertson ran 3000m (9.55.24). Cameron McLeod ran 100m (12.33), 400m (53.6) and Triple Jump (10.75m). Peter Bowman ran 400m (54.48) and 800m (2.04.47). Jonathan Farrell ran 100m (11.54) and Shot Putt (7m).
The Balfron 10k was also that day with Hugh Laverty running a respectable 40.24 over the hilly course closely followed by Brian Reilly (41.38).
Lastly on the same weekend was the DunRen Complex Open Graded meeting at Linwood. Under 11 Caitlin Stewart ran the 800m (3.21.73). Under 13 Andrew Hunter ran the 100m (13.44), 200m (27.80) and Long Jump (4m). Under 15 Roisin McShea ran in the 800m (2.43.81). Under 15 Kirsty Alexander also ran the 800m (3.00.36). Under 17 Claire Reid ran the 800m (2.42.51). Under 20 Jonathan Farrell ran in the 100m (11.40) and the 200m (23.51). Under 20 Cameron McLeod ran in the 400m (55.29).
