Last Monday (25th) Marina McCallum travelled to Dublin to take part in the Adidas Dublin Marathon. Over an undulating course, but in near perfect conditions, she took another three minutes off her personal best to finish in 3.26.51.
The previous Saturday (23rd) was the National Cross Country Relays at Cumbernauld. Conditions again were better than expected. First off were the Young Females. We had two teams – one complete and one incomplete. ‘A’ team had Rachel Busby running the 2500m course first finishing in 12.45, changing over to Roisin McShea (11.43), and finally Claire Reid (12.24). ‘B’ team had Ciara Devanney running first leg in 13.34, changing to Jenny Kerr (14.45). Next off was the Young Males. ‘A’ team had Lewis Hay running first leg in 12.12, changing to David Campbell (11.23) and finally Conor Ewing (10.24). Lastly we had the Senior Men running. We had three teams – two complete and one incomplete. ‘A’ team had Peter Bowman running his usual blistering first leg (14.25), changing to Paul Carroll (15.43), changing to Iain Robertson (16.54), then finally Gary Dick (15.40). ‘B’ team had Pete Cartwright running first (18.21), changing to Ryan Nelson (16.36), changing to Hugh Laverty (17.18), and finally Bobby Young (19.19). ‘C’ team had Colin Gray running 22.08, then changing to Brian Campbell (18.54).
