SVHC News

I have just managed to get my hands on the most recent copy of the Scottish Veteran Harriers News and the club emerges well from the road running results. For instance they have a series of 10 races known as the Run and Become series with points awarded for each race. Second placed of the 106 men to take part was Bobby Young who was also first M65. His amigo Pete Cartwright was fourth, also in the M65's, and second in the group. M50 Gerry Montgomery was twelfth and fifth in his age grouping. President Peter Rudzinski was twenty ninth and also fifth in his category. The last Clydesdale that I could find was David Mitchell who only took part in one race and was seventeenth in the M60 group.
Pamela McCrossan was fifth in the Female category and third in her category with Marina McCallum next (sixth) but first in the M35 category. These are not the only appearances in the excellent magazine with names appearing in various races. The one that tickled my fancy though was in Dave Cooney's report on the UK vets road relay championships at Sutton Coldfield in May, where after more than a column extolling the virtues of the Cambuslang teams that did so well there, he remarks of their M60 team that "they were overshadowed by the former title holders Clydesdale who were twelfth team thanks to Peter Cartwright (19:16), Brian Campbell (20:09) and Bobby Young (19:06).
It is an interesting magazine produced in a very professional manner and well worth a read by any club member.
