Gold, silver and bronze again!

The results of the Dunbartonshire Championships at the weekend make good reading for all club members - for the first time in a wee while we had gold, silver and bronze medals heading back to the club headquarters. For the first time in a wee while we had team medals for both men and women in a championship event and the running of the younger members was very encouraging.
From Peter Bowman - it's not stretching things too far to call him a young athlete - to Rachel Busby, who is coming back to what we hope will be an injury free season, it is good to see the younger ones coming back into good form. All of the runners mentioned below in Michelle's report contributed to a good day's sport. It is a pity that Roisin couldn't run on the day - surely another medallist? - and that Claire had the unfortunate mix-up with the start times but I can think of a couple of Seniors who have made exactly the same mistake in the past and went on to better things.
The Senior Men all did the job we knew they could do (and Gerry even went on to race the following day as well!) and there was a good second team backing up. A good sign here was that if either Paul or Gerry had run a bit below form, the team would still have been third by counting Ian Robertson's points. The women did well to pick up silver with all doing well and, as with the men, one of the good things was seeing Jolene Ennis five places further back - had anything happened to Marina, the team would still have picked up second place! As it was she added a point to the third placed club's total.
Some names were missing from the Junior ranks - no doubt due to weather difficulties and seasonal colds and sniffles but the ones who ran can all be pleased with their performances, maybe especially Rachel Busby and Stephen Kane who went home with tangible rewards for their efforts. Well done to everybody.
