News Report w/e 16th October

The weekend of the 8th was the West Districts Cross Country Relays at Drumpellier Park, Coatbridge. In wet conditions both young and old of Clydesdale Harriers ran well with some excellent results. First off was the Young Females. We had three teams competing. ‘A’ Team had Iona Allan running the 2500m course in 11.03, changing over to Erin Ball (11.12), finally changing to Roisin McShea (10.33) with a total time of 32.48 and 24th position overall. ‘B’ Team had Rachel Campbell running 1st leg in 12.23, changing to Emily Paxton (10.59), finally changing to Claire Reid (12.15) with a total time of 35.37 and 33rd position. ‘C’ Team had Anna Haddock running 1st leg in 13.01, changing to Aimee Abbott (13.46), finally changing to Kirsty Alexander (13.42) with a total time of 40.29 and 38th position.

Next off was the Young Males who had two teams, one incomplete. ‘A’ Team had Lewis Hay running 1st leg in 12.48 (unfortunately having to slow up after pulling his hamstring), changing to David Campbell (8.33), finally changing to Conor Ewing (8.47) with a total time of 31.28. ‘B’ Team had Stephen Kane running 1st leg in 11.22, changing to Connor McDade (9.41).

The Senior/Junior Females were off next running 4000m each. We had Anne Murray running a strong 1st leg (16.42), changing to Fiona McCue (17.40), finally changing to Marina McCallum (18.03) with a total time of 52.25 and 8th team overall. They were also the winner of 1st Masters Team and won the gold medal for their efforts – a truly excellent result!

Lastly was the Senior/Junior Men who had two teams. ‘A’ Team had Iain Robertson running 15.39, changing to Peter Bowman (13.59), changing to Ryan Nelson (16.270, finally Paul Carroll (15.27). ‘B’ Team had Kevin Farmer running first (16.07), changing to Peter Rudzinski (19.05), changing to Bobby Young (19.06), finally changing to Brian Gallagher (20.16).

The previous weekend was the Baxters Loch Ness marathon and 10k. In the marathon Paul Carroll and Gerry Montgomery ran into the finish together clocking near identical times of 3h 1m, followed further back by Brian Reilley in 3.58. In the 10k Martin King ran a personal best to finish in 39.22, followed by Fiona McCue running a seasons best in 42.50.

That same day was the St Andrews Hospice 10k at Strathclyde Park. Fastest harrier was Paul McKendry (41.400, followed by Stuart Allison (42.03), Alistair Greig (43.04), Shirley Greig (46.40) and Christine Duncanson (47.10).
