Clydesdale Harriers were out competing in the Beith New Year Road Races on the 2nd of the month. Fastest harrier over the 4.8 mile course was Hugh Laverty (30.24 and 1st vet 55), followed by Peter Rudzinski (34.59).
On the 26th of last month was the Ayr Turkey Trot 10k. Fastest harrier was Alistair Kerr (45.31), followed by Stephen McKee (55.54), Patricia Stevenson (56.15), and Evelyn McKee (61.14).
Next races for the harriers are the Scottish Athletics national Masters Cross Country Championships at Kilmarnock (4th February) and the Scottish National Cross Country Championships at Falkirk (18th February).
Clydesdale Harriers have training sessions for adults and children on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesday all groups meet at St Peter the Apostle Secondary School on the corner of Great Western Road and Kilbowie Road at 7pm. On Thursday the main adult group meets on East Thompson Street at the church at 6.45pm, and the children and some adults usually train on Lusset Park (grass session), near the Erskine Bridge, at 7pm.The adults also meet for long runs on Sunday mornings at the Playdrome (9am).
