Reunion Dinner
The reunion dinner is looking good for 7th April at Drymen. Allan Sharp came up with the idea of getting as many former members, life members and their friends in other clubs as possible together since they only ever met up these days at funerals or organised functions. The original title was a last roundup but that sounded kinda scary for us older chaps and it became a reunion. He booked the Buchanan Castle Golf Club for 50 - 60 people and we are now at 57 with half a dozen still to confirm their attendance. Apart from all the usual suspects - Allan, John Wright, Bob and Jim Shields, Doug Gemmell, Pat Younger, etc, and current competing athletes - we have John G McCall coming over specially from Canada - John, from Old Kilpatrick, qualified as a doctor in the early 1970's, then shortly afterwards emigrated and has been doctor to five consecutive Camadian Olympic winter sports teams. Among the friends coming along we have Lachie Stewart, winner of the 1970 Commonwealth Games 10000m and Olympic 10000m runner in 1972 and also Fergus Murray. Olympic 10000m runner in 1968 and Commonwealth Games marathon runner as well as friends from local clubs. Garscube, Vicky Park, Dumbarton, Maryhill are all represented. It should be a good night.
