On Saturday 17th was the Clydesdale Harriers 5k. In near perfect conditions many personal best times were achieved with no less than 7 runners breaking 15 minutes over the flat course. Fastest harrier was Gerry Montgomery finishing in 17.51, followed by Martin King (18.37 pb), Hugh Laverty (18.50 pb), Ann Murray (19.08 pb), Pamela McCrossan (19.56), Pete Cartwright (19.57 and 1st vet over 60), Paul McKendry (20.21), Dewar Stewart (20.48 pb), and Watson Jones (21.51 pb).
The previous weekend had Ann Murray and Yvonne Green running in the Jack Crawford Springburn Cup (10k) at Bishopbriggs, both running excellent times. Ann ran 41.06 and Yvonne 46 mins.
Lastly, on the 4th March there was the National Under 14 and Under 16 Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall. Under 14 runner Rachel Campbell ran well in the heats of the 200m running a swift 31.97, and also ran in the 60m Hurdles finishing in a time of 11.81. Under 16 runner Andy Hunter got through to the final of the 200m finishing 4th in 25.32. He also competed in the long jump coming 4th with a jump of 5.31m.
