News Report weekended 25th March

The weekend of the 17th was a busy one for Clydesdale Harriers. The Alloa Half Marathon attracted four of our members. Fastest was Mark Barrow finishing in a time of 1.35.06, followed by Gerry Kane (1.45.56), Stephen McKee (2.08.51), and Evelyn McKee (2.08.51).
Also that day was the Scottish Athletics Junior Road Race Championships which took place in Rouken Glen Park. The Under 13 Girls and Boys ran 2500m. Fastest Girl was C. Ross (11.23), followed by Iona Allan (11.33), Rachel Campbell (12.33), and A. Abbot (13.06).  The Boys had S. Kane running well in a time of 11.14. The Under 15 Girls and Boys ran 3700m. Emily Paxton finished well in a time of 16.04. The Under 17 Women and Men ran 5000m and had Claire Reid running 27.06 and Conor Ewing running a swift 16.50.
At the beginning of the month several members of the Club travelled to the sunny island of Lanzarote for their weeks annual training holiday (joining members from other running clubs and the Scottish Veterans Harriers Club members). On the 6th March a 5k race was organised whilst they were there. In hot conditions no less than eleven Clydesdale Harriers took part. Fastest Harrier and 2nd overall was Donald Cameron (18.42), followed by Martin King (19.37), Hugh Laverty (20.05), Stuart Allison (20.59), Pamela McCrossan (21.09), Fiona McCue (21.35), Hugh Watson (22.52), Peter Rudzinski (24.34), Christine Duncanson (25.02), Marie Rippon (27.37), and Laurie Pearson (29.55).
