AGM Continued

The club AGM is tomorrow night and I hope that there is a good turnout and good discussion of club affairs. I was a bit disappointed at the response to my last post - 'anonymous' should be ashamed of him/herself posting without attaching their name. If they did not know how to respond otherwise, they could have signed their name at the bottom. It would be appropriate at this point to point out that I have posted almost 1000 posts and only before the AGM have I been critical of the club's position on anything. And that is appropriate too. The AGM is always the time to be critical - every governing body, whether Scottish Athletics, Clydesdale Harriers or any other club should be quizzed on their performance. You will of course note that I asked questions before last year's AGM and then after the event was entirely positive.
The club was 6th in the National Cross-Country Championships ten years ago and was 31st this year. Why was that and what is the committee going to do to reverse the situation? Why does no one on the committee ever come to track league meetings, especially the Young Athletes meetings? Why does the committee not encourage all the best runners to support Paul Carroll and turn out in the major championships? These all need to be answered and teh AGM is the place to do that. In response to David's point about club spirit being better than ever, well that's only true - and it is true - about the senior endurance runners. There is no support for the track athletes from the road runners and no knowledge of the road runners on the part of the track runners.
So - go to the AGM. Ask the had questions and then ,after the event, get behind the Committee that is elected!

It was nice to see some very old friends at the agm last night and it was nice to put a face on some names. I was unaware that the club organized a sunday run at 8.30am at the playdrome,as this has never been mentioned on the club web site. So once i am pain free from my back pain, i may try and make a run on a sunday though it is a day of worship.
