News report week ending 15th April


On Sunday was the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon where several members of Clydesdale Harriers took part. Results next week.

The previous weekend was the Tom Scott Memorial Road Races at Strathclyde Park  (6k and 10 mile). In the 6k fastest harrier was Paul Carroll, finishing 5th overall in a time of 20.54, followed by Marina McCallum (25.17), and Colin Gray (30.02). In the 10 mile race fastest harrier was Gerry Montgomery coming back to form in a time of 61.21, followed by Hugh Laverty (65.41 pb), Alistair Greig (66.54 pb), Pamela McCrossan (67.12), Anne Murray (67.30), Paul McKendry (68.05 pb), Stuart Allison (68.45), Pete Cartwright (71.02), Christine Duncanson (76.46 pb), and Patricia Stevenson (87.35 pb).

The previous weekend was the Scottish Athletics Road Relay Championships (6 stages) at Almondvale, Livingstone. The stages were alternate 4 mile and 6 mile legs.  The men had two teams entered – one complete and one incomplete. Team ‘A’ had Ryan Nelson running first (18.55), changing to Michael Diver (34.25), then to Pete Cartwright (20.58), Paul Carroll (33.22), Iain Robertson (18.53), and Kevin Farmer (40.27). Team ‘B’ had Watson Jones running first (22.35), changing to Gerry Kane (43.11), then to Bobby Young (23.09), and Peter Rudzinski (44.16).
