News Report week ended 3rd June

The third in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Series kicked off last Thursday night in Dumbarton. Again several members of Clydesdale Harriers had fantastic runs and personal bests aplenty.  Fastest harrier was again Paul Carroll (35.01), followed by Donald Cameron (36.15), Kevin Farmer (37.59), Martin King (38.53 pb), Alistair Greig (38.53 pb), Pete Cartwright (40.15 and 1^st veteran over 60), Brian Reilly (41.27), Mark Barrow (42.41 pb), Shirley Greig (43.15 pb), Heather Calderwood (44.15), Christine Duncanson (44.52 pb), Watson Jones (46.03), Yvonne Green (47.05), Stephen McKee (48.04), Colin Gray (48.26), and Evelyn McKee (54.58).

The day before was the Kilpatricks Hill Race (approximately 6 miles). Fastest harrier was Brian Gallagher (51.55 and 3^rd vet over 40), followed by Michael Diver (54.52), and Derek Halpin (60.42).

The weekend of the 26^th May had no less than three races on. First was the Stornoway HalfMarathon where Paul Carroll finished an excellent second place in a time of 1.20.35 over the extremely hot and hilly course. This was followed by Marina McCallum (1.42.34 and 2^nd female). The WLHG Cairnpapple Hill Race (SVHC Bathgate Hill Race) was a bit nearer to home. Fastest harrier over this out and back 6 mile course was Gerry Montgomery (40.13), followed by Pamela McCrossan (43.38 and 3^rd female), Watson Jones (49.52), and Peter Rudzinski (52.08). Lastly was the Goatfell Hill Race where Michael Diver ran well to finish in 1.54.08.

The previous weekend was the hilly Dunlop 10k in East Ayrshire. Gerry Montgomery ran well to finish as 2^nd male in a time of 37.50, followed by Pamela McCrossan (41.25 and 2^nd female). Also that day was the Scottish Athletics League Match at  Aberdeen. Jonathan Farrell ran in the 100m and 200m ‘A’ String running 11.84 (4^th) and 24.07 (5^th) respectively. He also jumped in the Triple Jump (11.18 ‘B’ String).  Andrew Cusick ran in the 100m ‘B’ String to finish 4^th in a time of 12.47, and jumped in the Triple Jump (1^st in 11.18m). Peter Bowman ran in the 400m ‘A’ String finishing 4^th in 54.89, and the 800m ‘A’ String in 2.02.40. Iain Robertson also ran in the 400m ‘B’ String finishing 4^th in 56.98, and the 800m ‘B’ String finishing 2^nd in 2.05.41. They came 4^th in the 4x100m and the 4x400m Relays as well.
