News Report weekended 24th February

Last weekend was the main event in the cross country calendar for all running clubs including Clydesdale Harriers. Falkirk’s Callendar Park again hosted the National Cross Country Championships. Due to the recent dry weather the course was not as muddy as previous years so fast times were expected. No one disappointed and in near perfect conditions everyone ran excellent times. The races started with the Under 13 Boys race. All were running 3200m. Fastest harrier was Lewis Priest finishing 9th overall in a time of 13.19, followed by Ronan Ross (15.25), Jack McCue (16.10), and Stephen Kane (17.07). The four finished as 15th team overall against a top class field.
Under  13 Girls were next also running 3200m. Fastest harrier was Iona Allan finishing in 17.18, followed by Natasha Shaw (17.40), Sarah Goggins (18.35), and Chloe Allan (19.57). The four finished as 17th team overall.
Under 15 Boys were next running 4000m. Fastest harrier was Brian Aird running 16.23, followed by Philip Allan (16.34), Jacob Siems (17.56), and Lewis Hay (18.00). The four finished as 14th team overall.
The Senior Women were off next running 8000m. Fastest harrier was Pamela McCrossan, finishing in a time of 35.23 and 3rd vet 50. This was followed by Anne Murray (35.53), Fiona McCue (36.22), Marina McCallum (37.04), Yvonne Green (40.24), and Christine Duncanson (41.48). Pamela, Anne, Fiona and Marina finished as 16th team overall.
Lastly were the Senior Men running 12000m. Fastest harrier was Paul Carroll running 45.58, followed by Michael Diver (48.41), Robert O’Neill (48.47), Donald Cameron (49.00), Gerry Montgomery (50.43), Hugh Laverty (54.00), Ryan Nelson (54.32), Pete Cartwright (56.27), Iain Robertson (57.06), Paul McKendry (57.16), Gerry Kane (58.05), Watson Jones (62.24), Peter Rudzinski (62.29), Brian Campbell (62.55), and Bobby Young (64.08). The first six finished as 22nd team overall.
