Also that day was the first of the CSSL matches (Central and
South of Scotland League) at Grangemouth Stadium where harriers young and old
were competing in a wide variety of track and field events to gain overall
points for the club. All enjoyed the experience and the points gained ensured a
good overall position amongst the other clubs.
The day before was the Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k in Pollock
Park. Marina McCallum had a good run over the hilly course to finish as first
female in a time of 44.26.

The previous Wednesday was the Troon Tortoises 10k. In windy
conditions fastest harrier was Christine Duncanson who finished in a time of
47.20, followed by Stephen McKee (51.38), Marie Rippon (52.11), Tricia
Stevenson (54.15), and Evelyn McKee (56.02).
The previous weekend was the SVHC Walter Ross 10k Road Race
also in Pollock Park. Fastest harrier
was Gerry Montgomery who finished 10th overall in 37.56, followed by
Pamela McCrossan (41.44 – 2nd female and 1st vet over
50), Paul McKendry (42.02), Pete Cartwright (44.39 and 1st vet over
70), Brian Campbell (46.25 and 1st vet over 65), Watson Jones (46.58
and 2nd vet over 70), and Gerry Kane (46.06).
The day before was the Edinburgh to North Berwick 20 Mile
Road Race which had Brian Gallagher finishing well up the field in 2.12.35.
Tomorrow (Thursday) is the first of the four races which
make up the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road Race Series (Helensburgh), followed by
the Clydebank 10k the following Thursday (23rd May), Dumbarton 10k
(30th May) and the Vale of Leven 10k (Sunday 9th June).
