Extract from September Committee Meeting

  • 1.       The Club President had a meeting with a representative of the Clyde Shopping Centre management team to discuss possible sponsorship for the club. We were asked to provide a rough cost for a tent for use at outdoor meetings such as cross country and track events. If anyone knows where we can get such a tent, let the president know, as they don’t have any suitable tents in Go Outdoors in Clydebank.
  • 2.       Club Together. The committee unanimously agreed that there was no point at the present in the club trying to achieve this standard.
  • 3.       New vests are on order from Purple Rock in various sizes.
  • 4.       125th Anniversary Dinner and Presentation of Prizes. This will take place in the Westpark Hotel in Clydebank on 8th October with a 7.30 start for the dinner. This will be followed by the presentation of prizes and then a disco. Cost per ticket £20. Still some available.
  • 5.       We had another long discussion on the coaching situation for youngsters and the committee are happy that issues are being addressed which will allow us to provide legal and appropriate coaching for youngsters.
  • 6.       Races were agreed for the forthcoming Winter League. To be posted on the website.
  • 7.       Merit award winners were proposed and agreed for the presentation night.

Extract of minutes from August 2011 meeting

1.   The minutes of the West District committee show that they are still looking for volunteers to host the District XC Relays and XC Championships this year, and also the Masters XC Championships. Unfortunately there is no venue in Clydebank which could take the numbers involved.
2.  125th Anniversary Dinner. J.Hanratty enquired as to the availability of the Westpark Hotel in Duntocher. Subsequently confirmed that there are Saturday nights free in October. Committee to vote on preferred date, quickly.
3.  Scottish Athletics have announced a replacement scheme for Clubmark, which was not universally taken up by clubs. Club Together is the new scheme. Because of the reduced number of committee members in attendance at the meeting, we have deferred a debate on the scheme until the next meeting in September.
4.  Y. Green has agreed to pursue the ordering of club vests in appropriate numbers from Purple Rock.
5.   There was a lengthy debate on the (lack of) coaches in the club for young athletes. Existing coaches are invited to attend the next committee meeting in order to present a plan for improving the situation. In particular we have a need to ensure that anyone who coaches young athletes is appropriately accredited. Next meeting is due on Friday 16th September at the Playdrome.

Notes from last Committee meeting 17/6

Dear colleagues,
Here are some notes from the club’s last committee meeting, for your interest.
A further batch of members were accepted into the club. A warm welcome to S.Hassan, R.Ross, C.Ross, F.Kennedy, D.Stewart and J.Ritchie.
We are still waiting to hear if we have been granted access to Clydebank Golf Club for the use of their clubhouse for a celebration of the club’s 125th anniversary. Confirmation of the venue and date will be blogged as soon as we know.
Peter Bowman, Ian Robertson and Jonathon Farrell were awarded a grant of £500 for their forthcoming trip to youth games in Gothenburg. We wish them well and hope that they have a successful trip.
