Press Report w/e 14th September

Clydesdale Harriers had a busy weekend (the 6th and 7th) with events for the Great Scottish Run:

There were at least nine of the younger members running in Glasgow at the Saturday (6th) in the Great Scottish Junior Run over 3000 metres. The times I have are as follows:David Brown (U20) 10:12; Rachel Busby (U11) 13:35; Keir Martin (U15) 14:29; Scott McDade (U15) 14:32; Jamie Wright (U15) 14:36; Chloe Wright (U13) 14:37; Lewis Wood (U15) 15:27; Beth Atkinson (U15) 18:06) and Andrew Hunter (U11) 20:53.

The 10k the next day at Glasgow Green had Iain Robertson running a personal best time of 37.30 coming 31st out of a field of 6089. This was the furthest Iain had run for several months as he’d been tackling track running during the summer months so he was well delighted.

In the main event – the long established half marathon - no less than 14 harriers took part. The course was slightly changed this year due to work on the Kingston Bridge which made the course overall much hillier than previous years though surprisingly a few personal bests were still attained! Fastest harrier was Pamela McCrossan running an excellent 1.27.16 in 223rd position out of 7055 runners and bagging a personal best whilst she was at it! Next finisher was Bobby Rossborough (286th in 1.29.00), John Foley (308th in 1.29.34), Stephen Thomson (337th in 1.30.13), Kath Scott (381st in 1.31.10), Stuart Allison (5755th in 1.34.30), Fiona McCue (838th in 1.37.34 pb), Hugh Watson (898th in 1.38.15), Peter Rudzinski (906th in 1.38.20), closely followed by Martin King (908th in 1.38.22), Christine Duncanson (1109th in 1.40.16 pb), Marina McCallum (1510th in 1.44.00), Marie Rippon (4267th in 2.02.44) and Colin Gray (4638th in 2.05.41)

The last day of last month had two Clydesdale Harriers running in the Paisley 10k. First Harrier home was Alan Lorimer in 42.13 followed a few minutes later by Colin Gray in 50.47.
