Highland Fling 53 miles

Harriers did well in the Highland Fling Race from Milngavie to Tyndrum along the West Highland way. Heather Calderwood finished thirty eighth in 9 hours 45 minutes 45 seconds, John Kennedy was sixty third in 10:13:30, Peter Halpin was one hundred and thirty fifth in 11:11:28 and Craig Calderwood two hundred and fifty first in 12:44:10 and three hundred and twenty one finished. The relay looks like a good 'fun' event which at the very least would be a good training exercise and there were 37 teams in it. What I can't be doing with (it's a generational thing) is the daft names that they run under. What's the point of calling yourself something silly - let your running do that for you. Our runners did themselves and the club proud - Heather was the third Scot and UK female and John Kennedy was third V50. In the weather that prevailed on Saturday it was no small feat completing the trail in one piece. For a full report on how it felt, have a look at Peter Halpin's blog from the link on this page.
