Men's League

The Men's Track Team was in action at Grangemouth on Sunday in dreradful winds thjat made any kind of decent time on the track - other than the 100m - impossible. Johnathan Farrell had a good day with 100, 200, bioth relays and including a pb in the shot putt. Peter Bowman was out in the 200, 400, and 800 plus relays, Ryan Nelson did his bit in the 800/1500m double, David Brown took part in the steeplechase picking up good points for the club and Tony Dolan had his first senior outing when he ran in the 1500m You will note the absence of field event competitors - we really need folk to do them. Plans are afoot for next summer but this year - well, the need is great.
Man of the Match for me had to be Paul Carroll who ran in the 5000m with a gale force wind in the back straight that looked like runners hitting a brick wall as they turned into it. Paul ran very well working his way through the field with a very even paced race. After the first 200m, his lap times were 83, 83, 82, 83 (1st Mile); 85, 84, 83, 83(2nd mile), 85, 86, 86, 80 (3rd Mile) and you can see from the 80 second last lap that he had plenty up his sleeve.
It was a good day and team manager Phil Dolan doubled up as an official with Ian Robertson.
