News Report w/e 22nd May


The first of the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Series kicked off last Thursday at Helensburgh. Clydesdale Harriers had no less than twelve members and several soon-to be members taking part.  Fastest harrier was Paul Carroll running a personal best time of 35.28, closely followed by Donald Cameron in 35.50 (also a pb). Then Derek Halpin (38.01), Martin King (42.26), Bobby Young (44.18), Fiona McCue (45.44), ChristineDuncanson (45.52 and 3rd vet 50), Watson Jones (48.18), Yvonne Green (49.51), Marie Rippon (52.30), Kevin Farmer (53.35) and Colin Gray (52.54).

The previous weekend (14th) had victories and prizes galore for some of our members. At the Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k at Pollock Park we had Marina McCallum winning the women’s race comfortably in a time of 42.10 over the undulating course. The next day Pamela McCrossan showed a clean pair of heels to all other women in the Monklands Half Marathon finishing in a time of 1.31.58. Also that day was the Walter Ross SVHC 10k also at Pollock Park where Gerry Montgomery finished in a time of 37.00, followed by Bobby Young (46.14).

The previous weekend was the Ignis Asset Management Womens 10k where fastest harrier was Pamela McCrossan (41.35 and 43rd overall), followed by Christine Duncanson (46.01) and Yvonne Green (51.28).

Lastly on Wednesday 4th was the SVHC Snowball Race (4.8 Miles) at Coatbridge where Gerry Montgomery ran well to finish in a time of 28.51, followed by Pamela McCrossan (32.22) and Bobby Young (33.14).

This Thursday (26th) is the Clydebank 10k. Any members not running are requested to help out if they can. Race starts 730pm on the service road behind Clydebank Shopping Centre. Just see Peter Rudzinski before the race start.
