Recruitment
Recruitment has been good recently with new athletes of all ages and of both genders. There is no reason of course to stop here - we must really keep working to build the numbers - the only reason for the young athletes not winning their league was that there were too many empty slots on the team sheet. Keep going into the schools, keep bringing your friends - Ian McCafferty was one of Scotland's best ever endurance athletes on all surfaces and he only came into the sport because his pal Alex Brown asked him along to make up the team - ask former athletes to make a return to the sport. How about a well-advertised come-and-try night for runners only in the first instance and for all ages with a sprint and a middle distance event on the calendar; pitch it at all ages with the only stipulation being that they are not currently a member of an athletics club. It worked for sprinters and throwers in the 80's and 90's, why wouldn't it win again?
