Last Saturday was the Frank Sinclair Memorial 10k which took
place near Gourock swimming pool. Two Clydesdale harriers took part with
excellent results. Gerry Montgomery finished in 8th position overall
and was awarded 1st vet over 40 prize in a time of 37.56, followed
by Pamela McCrossan who finished as 2nd female overall and 1st
vet in a time of 43.16.
Last Thursday was the third in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road
Race Series which took place in Dumbarton. The course was fast and flat.
Fastest harrier was Paul Carroll (35.11), followed by Donald Cameron (35.53),
Brian Gallagher (36.58), John Fox (38.22), Hugh Laverty (39.53), Nicola Pearson
(41.22 and 1st Junior), Brian Campbell (45.24), Stephen McKee
(49.23), Colin Gray (49.39), and Mairi Fox (49.50 pb).
The previous weekend was the Edinburgh Marathon where Robert
O’Neill had a brilliant run to finish in a time of 2.57.42 pb, followed by
Brian Gallagher (3.00.13), and Paul Broad (3.57.05 pb).
The LochwinnochTrail Race was also that day and had Alan
Dick running well to finish in 41.50, near Castle Semple Loch over a course
which was mostly on cycle trails but had two tough climbs to negotiate.
Lastly on the 18th May was the British Masters
Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park, Birmingham. The Over 65 team consisted
of Bobby Young running first over the 5k course in 21.48, changing to Brian
Campbell (22.37), changing to Pete Cartwright (20.38). They finished as 7th
team overall.
Next races for the harriers include the Isle of Skye Half
Marathon (8th) and the final
race in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road Race Series at the Vale of Leven (9th).
