Club Records

Some time ago I put up a post about club records and since then there has been another season gone by. Could we bring them up to date? First, I don't have veterans records for track and field: let's start to get them together. I know Bobby, Brian and Pete have set assorted records but could we have club best times for as many T&F events as possible? In the late 80's/early 90's several women who may well have been W35 or W40 competed - I can maybe look back but do we have women's times set in recent years on the track or in the field (any field) that we can use to start compiling these too?
The young athletes and their parents (who tend to be the ones with the scrap books!) may well have set records or may have run in an event on the track that is not on the list, could get in touch as well. The existing records as far as I know them are on the blog: got to the list on the right of the page and click on Records (there were 4 such postings so go down as far as things with (4) beside them to find them!)
Use my usual email address.

Young Male Athletes!

I had barely put up the U15 Girls records when I had an email looking for the U15 boys! So here they are - and most are considerably good and will take some beating.
100 metres: Jamie Kerr 11.8 seconds
200 metres: Johnathan Farrell 24.55 seconds
400 metres: Ryan Savage 56.1 seconds
800 metres: Graeme Walker 2:01.1
1500 metres: Bryan Higgins 4:12.1
1500m S/chase:Alan Adams 4:50.9
80m hurdles: Donald Govan 12.7 seconds
4 x 110: 50.2 seconds (D Crerand, J Farrell, L Heath, K Kapoba)
4 x 400: 3:54.3 (D McAusland, B Higgins, J Watt, J Beaton)

High Jump: Kamaya Kapoba 1.75 metres
Long Jump: Finlay Edridge 6.16 metres
Triple Jump: Finlay Edridge 12.16 metres

Shot Putt: Garry Hagan 15.70 metres
Discus Throw: Garry Hagan 38.23 metres
Javelin: Colin Cowan 31.08 metres
Hammer Throw: Stephen Bickle 35.44 metres

So go to it lads. Now for an apology - it has also been pointed out that the U15 Girls record for the relay was 53.29 and was recorded by the girls mentioned already (Megan, Natalie, Sinead and Leanne.0

Young Athletes

The season for younger athletes is almost over in terms of championships (Schools, Age Groups for most ages) and league matches finish tomorrow. All there is to go for is times, heights and distances so it's maybe right to list the club records for the Under 15's. Girls this time, Boys next time round.
100 Metres: Nadia Hashemi 12.4 seconds
200 metres: Julie Bain 27.3 seconds
300 metres: Ainslie Boyle 44.8 seconds
800 metres: Jolene Ennis 2:20.6
1500 metres: Jolene Ennis 4:49.51
75m hurdles: Kirsty Lawrence 12.5 seconds
4 x 110 relay: 55.1 seconds (S Griffin, N Quinn, M Reid, L Meldrum)

High Jump: Nadia Hashemi 1.50 metres
Long Jump: Helen Anderson 6.67 metres
Triple Jump: Jolene Ennis 9.17 metres

Shot Putt: Christine Chalk 9.51 metres
Discus Throw: Margaret Muir 22.16 metres
Javelin: Ooonagh McNeill 14.43 metres

So there you are girls - how about someone setting a pole vault record? And some of the others can be beaten if you get the work done - eg the javelin is particularly soft and the discus isn't too hard either!

Schools Results

The Scottish Schools Championships is the event where all the Clydesdale youngsters are to be found in all sorts of different vests and that makes it difficult to pick them out as they are in school colours. However the results for the second day on Saturday were encouraging. Peter Bowman was second in his Heat of the 800 metres in 2:03.7 which was a new pb by over 2 seconds and although he was out of the medals in the final he was well pleased with it. Anton Russell was fifth in the long jump with a best on the day of 5.57 metres and in the 200 metres races, Johnathan Farrell was fifth in the Final in 23.76 seconds while Cameron MacLeod equalled his pb in the lower age group when he was timed at 24.3 seconds.

Earlier in the week at the Dunbartonshire and Argyllshire Schools Championships Tony Dolan was third in the 1500 metres in 5:08.3. He followed this one with third of over 30 competitors in a 3000 metres race at Peebles.

In the Scottish Under 20's championships, Johnathan Farrell was 5th in the Final of the 100 metres in 11.75 which was a bit below par but he was running into a headwind. In the 200 metres he was 4th in the Heat in 23.78 and seventh in the Final in 23.53.

The younger girls were in action at Linwood in the Open Meeting there and Under 11 Rachel Busby ran 16.38 for the 100 metres and 2:57.65 for the 800. Club mate Kirsty Alexander was timed at 16.69 and 3:01.28 for the same events.
