Last Wednesday ten Clydesdale Harriers made the trip to Bishopbriggs to run the 7k Canal Canter race. This out and back course along the Forth and Clyde canal was enjoyed by all. First finisher for the Club and in 2nd place overall was Paul Carroll who ran the race of his life in a time of 23.22. The next Clydesdale finisher was Pete Cartwright in 25.30 followed by Gerry Montgomery 25.36, Brian Campbell 26.20, Pamela McCrossan 27.02, who was also 3rd lady overall and winner of 1st lady vet prize, then Anne Murray 27.15 who was 4th lady overall and winner of 3rd lady prize.Next was Peter Rudzinski 29.30, Christine Duncanson 29.58, Colin Gray 34.59 and John Hutchinson 35.03
On the 9th Aug it was the Devil O' The Highlands 43 mile ultra race, going from Tyndrum to Fort William along the West Highland Way. John Kennedy was first Clydesdale finisher coming 8th overall out of a field of 78 runners in a time of 6hours and 9 mins.He was followed by Aileen Scott in 30th place in a time of 8 hrs 18 mins who won 1st lady vet prize, then in 57th place was Marina McCallum in 9 hrs 23 mins, all finishing comfortably under the 12hour time limit.
Also that day was the World Mountain Trials in the Cairngorms.Prasad Prasad was 5th overall in this top quality field in 48.51 and Michael Diver finished 40th in 68.58
At the beginning of the month Gerry Montgomery combined a holiday with entering the Tour of Fife Beach Race, running the 4 mile course in 36th place in 26.36
