one hundred and twenty fifth anniversary dinner

I have been asking some of the guys of my generation, who are still active, about attending the anniversary Dinner in September and the response has been good. Guys like Bill Hislop, Pat Younger, Dougie Gemmell, Ian Leggett, Johnny B Maclachlan, Allan Faulds, Allan Sharp and others are all interested - I even heard on Monday that Billy Hislop had been speaking to Cyril O'Boyle who would be very interested and would come over from Ireland if the date's OK. Incidentally the list above includes three past Presidents, three vice-presidents, six captains and they were all runners and committee members!
I haven't spoken to any of the many, many members we had in the 80's and 90's who are all contemporaries of Peter Rudzinski and Jim Wright, Guys like Charlie McIntosh, Willie Goldie, Derek Halpin, John McArthur, Eddie Poole, etc might well be interested - maybe not these named but with enough senior runners to make five relay teams for the McAndrew, DAAA and West Districts there should be at least ten or twelve who would come if they knew. If nobody else is tasked with it, I'll certainly ask around!
Then there are hill runners - Jim and Bobby Shields, Ian Murphy, Brian Potts, Brian Edridge and company would if asked nicely be prepared to come in reasonable numbers.
Track and field guys like Peter Halpin, James Austin, Davie Ross, Paul Ross, Bobby Rosborough, Bobby Young, Davie Smart and so on would also provide a fair number of willing attenders.
I haven't even mentioned the women of the club - Janette Shields, the first woman assistant secretary, Emily Hardware and Lynn, Christine Menhennet, Marjorie Small, Shelagh King and many others spring to mind.
I would imagine that counting the present generation there would be no problem in having 60 or 70 folk coming along. As I said, I would be prepared to help making contact with them. All we'd need would be a date - some of the people mentioned go every year on an autumn holiday after the schools go back and would need maybe to alter their normal dates.
