Last weekend was the Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon at Kirkintilloch which incorporated the BMAF (British Masters Athletic Federation) UK Masters half marathon championships. It was also used by the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club as their handicapped half marathon championships. There were excellent results by Clydesdale Harriers and results should be posted next week.
Also that day, a little further afield, was the Chester Marathon which had Mark Barrow running 4h 10m.
The previous weekend was the George Cummings Road Relays at Houston. We had five teams running. ‘A’ Team had Peter Bowman running first (14.44), changing to Gerry Montgomery (15.55), then Donald Cameron (15.01), finally Paul Carroll (14.49). They finished as 11th team overall. ‘B’ Team had Kevin Farmer running first (15.28), changing to Alan Dick (17.10), then Pete Cartright (17.47), and finally Mark Barrow (18.17). They finished as 37th team. ‘C’ Team had Gus Cairney (17.18), changing to Gerry Kane (18.56), then Paul McKendry (17.37), finally Bobby Young (19.05). They finished as 44th team. ‘D’ Team was a mixed team which had Marie Rippon running first (22.44), changing to Colin Gray (20.39), then Claire Reid (21.38), finally Peter Rudzinski (22.00). Finally it was the Women’s Vets Team which had Marina McCallum running first (18.23), changing to Yvonne Green (18.36), finally Pamela McCrossan (17.17). They finished as 1st Masters team.
