I hope you are all well and for those of you who were at the track session on Tuesday, I hope you have recovered !
First of all and finally, for those members who are unaware, is the news that Bobby R,Kath and Gary have left the Club. All have gone to Garscube. I hope no one else decides to go, either to them or any other club. Our Club needs you.
Whether you race seldom, frequently or not at all, Clydesdale does need you. We've lost good members but it is now time to move on and leave them too it. We should wish them well.
At the AGM I was appointed our Mens' Club Captain. I think it will be a terrific but demanding role but for as long as I am in the position I will try my level best to do our Club proud.
Our vice-captain is Iain Robertson. He has been with Clydesdale for some considerable time and is genuinely a nice guy. I am more than happy he is at my side. Please give him a warm welcome.
In my opinion, one of the ways forward for our Club is with the members we already have.
Most of the girls and boys have been at the Club for many years and that does show an eagerness to stay further.
We have fantastic unity and especially so since the introduction of the track sessions.
It is great that the Youngsters, Juniors and Seniors all meet at the one point now. It can only be good for our Club.
Its also pleasing that guys such as Sam Wallace and Joe Higgins have graced us with their presence. I hope they stick around. I'm sure they will.
We've been told these track sessions will make us all stronger and faster in time to come.
I know our Coaches will be true to their word.
We also need to recruit. The Club Committee has agreed to draw up some flyers.
The final product is near completion and the plan is to have them ready for our own Polaroid Clydebank 10k on the 26th May. I think it will be invaluable we distribute as many copies as possible. Perhaps onto parked car windscreens, to spectators and certainly to all unattached runners. Any volunteers to help pass them out would be greatly appreciated. However, I think we also need other ideas to help us recruit. Can you think of any ?
In terms of races that we have I'd like us all to target some. The ones I'd like us all to look towards are the Countys, Districts and the Nationals as well as our own Club Champs. and Hannah Cup. I'm not asking everyone to run all of them unless you wanted to. Even a couple would be a help.Perhaps the Committee should target all relay races and our double points ones as a priority for the all the Summer and Winter league races. We had Two men's teams out at the Livingston Six stage relays and id love us to build upon that.
The ladies' team is currently without a Captain and I hope this changes. Perhaps someone will step up to the plate.
It is my aim as Captain to post regular blogs on here as regards to forthcoming races - particularly the Relay ones. When I'm in a position to give you all as much notice as possible re the dates of them, then I shall.
In the short term I'd appreciate all members contact details such as email addresses and contact numbers. So, I'd be grateful if you could give me yours. I shall leave my own email address and contact number at the end of this blog.
Finally, if all goes to plan with the recruitment and with the continued track sessions we are doing then I feel there will be a new feel good factor at our club.
There could be exciting times ahead but only if we all work at it. I'm up for the challenge. Thanks.
