The club Memorial Bowl is awarded for the Senior Men as a result of a points contest. It was bought after the War and it was decided that the trophy be awarded for (a) points from the Scottish Track and Field Championships, plus (b) points from the West District Track and Field Championships, plus points from the Dunbartonshire Track and Field Championships plus (d) points from the club championships. The situation this year is that no one has run in the Scottish T & F Championships; the West District T & F Championships are no more, likewise the Dunbartonshire T & F Championships have been discontinued and the DALAP championships which might have served as a substitute are not being held. That means that the Memorial Bowl will be awarded to the man with the highest points total in the club championships. The recommendation was that the runner could pick his best three events, add the points and that was his score. For the club championships the points were awarded, 6 for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for fourth and 1 for every ther competitor. We now have a track - when are the championships????
The women's trophies for T & F and for Cross-Country were tracked won several years ago and one was held by Christine Menhennet and the other by Marjorie Small. Were they ever collected? They are club property and should be available for competition.
I mentioned DALAP just then. In the beginning it was very useful for the clubs in membership - access to information, to funds and to equipment and annual T & F Championships. Now the championships have been abandoned and the access to everything else is problematical, what is the epoint of the DALAP? Do we need it?
