British Gold For Clydesdale
Pete Cartwright, Bobby Young and Watson Jones went to Hexham in County Durham at the week end and came home with more gold for thc club's treasure chest. Taking part in the BMAF 10 miles road championship they won the M65 - 74 title to add it to all the others that the Amigos have run in past years. Pete ran 72:12, Bobby 80:04 and Watson 82:39: Watson's time actually won him the M70 silver medal. The evnt was run on country roads that had been closed to traffic, there were 550 runners and there was a meal provided by the organisers after the race before they all set off for home. It all adds to the social atmosphere and to inter-club friendliness. It always surprises me that more of our veterans don't go to these British championships. Well done chaps - your efforts are appreciated!
